People I Wish Were Running for President.....
Politics really isn't my thing. I'm interested in the issues. But that doesn't seem to be what politics are about these days. At it's best, politics is messy. At it's worst, - well you see what we've got this year.
One candidate is a bigoted mess, that seems to thrive on dividing the nation, and encourages violence. The other candidate seems to have honesty issues, along with not knowing when to do the right thing. But this is what we have this year. In January, 2017, a real doozy will be holding the most powerful and influential office on this planet. It has left me dreaming. Of something better.
I don't know if national politics was ever an honest pursuit. But it used to attract the best and the brightest. Educated people with a plan, and an honest desire to serve the people. Is this the best we can do?
Here's a list of people who I wish were running for President. Some are already politicians, some are not. Some are in jest, but many are not. I'm not saying I'd vote for them. But compared to our real world choices - who knows?
But it's not a show to the people in our armed forces. It's not a show to the people in law enforcement. It's not a show to the small business owner that worries about making payroll for the employees. It's not a show to somebody making minimum wage trying to support their family. It's not a show for the unemployed, or the underemployed.
We've still got a few months before the election. Enjoy the show. If you can.

Not that there's much at stake here. |

- Mitt Romney - former Republican nominee. He looks like a President. Talks a good game.
- Joe Biden - Vice President. Anybody that used to regularly take public transportation is OK with me.
- Bob Dole - former Senator, war hero. Evan at 92 probably makes more sense than most.
- John McCain - Senator and war hero. Another former candidate.
- Jimmy Carter - former President. Yeah, I know he was a failed one term President. But he's as honest as the day is long. Plus he's had time to think about his mistakes.
- Tom Hanks - actor. Who doesn't like Tom Hanks? Former astronaut and Vietnam veteran.
- Kevin Spacey - actor. Already the President on Netflix.
- John Glenn - former Marine, former astronaut, former Senator. Now 94 years old. But I'd trust him.
Old John Glenn - Dick Vitale - sportscaster. He'd be AWESOME, BABY! After the inauguration speech, we'd all be pumped!
- Queen Elizabeth II - Queen of England. (Oh, wait. There's that birther issue).
- Oprah - she's Oprah. Just about as rich as Donald. Pro-reading.
- Bill Belichik - football coach. Great organizer. Wouldn't say much.
- Bob Dylan - entertainer. Would write great speeches. But would mumble them.
- Justin Timberlake - entertainer. A talented guy. And he's now old enough.
- Michelle Obama - first lady. Who doesn't like Michelle?
- Jack Welch - former CEO General Electronic. A very sharp guy. I've actually met him. Good leader.
- Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson - Astrophysicist. Could explain complex issues in an understandable way.
- Dr. Bonnie Bassler - Microbiologist. Communicates with bacteria. Probably could communicate with the Middle East too.
- Cory Booker - Senator. He's the guy to watch in 2020.
- Mark Cuban - tech mogul, shark. Can cut through the BS, and make deals.
- Gabby Giffords - former Congresswoman. Courageous. Tough on immigration too.
- Bill Gates - founder Microsoft. He's probably got some ideas.
- Warren Buffett - very rich guy. Would get rid of the deficit.
- Jimmy Buffett - entertainer. Everybody would get along after margaritas!
