Concentration Detention Camps for Kids - Here in America.....
Way back in the day, I would take my kids for rides to see fun or unusual places. One time we came upon a very unusual sight near the outskirts of the airport. There was a building that looked like a small school. It even had a playground on the outside. But it had a high fence along the perimeter with razor wire on top. WTH? Was this to keep people out, or to keep what was on the inside in? These were the days when the X-Files were popular on tv. So I told my kids it was a school for "alien-human hybrids". But now it could be used to incarcerate kids of illegal immigrants.Kids in cages in Texas. I wish this was fake. |
I am not here to write about immigration law. The workers were here illegally. The laws should be upheld. But they are paying a steep price. Their kids. The kids are paying the steepest price: Imprisonment.
While the illegal workers were rounded up, the kids were the collateral damage. Most have been placed in
Sorry kid, |
This actually is nothing new. Under slavery, kids were taken from parents and used for forced labor. Native American kids were moved and re-schooled in order to take their land. But we are holding these kids, not for their land or for labor, but just to make a point.
Our government hasn't shown much concern for the kids at all. But they want you to not worry if they set up a kids kamp in your neighborhood. Here are some of the FAQ's from the government brochure, "Office of Refugee Resettlement"
- Do these children pose a health risk?
- Are communities safe with these kids in it? There are rumors the kids are gang members.
As I said, I'm not a legal expert. I'm not going to argue the law. But I am sure this is morally wrong. Very wrong.
You can argue that progress is being made. Of the 2,300 kids placed in prisons, 6 have been reunited with their parents. Not a typo: 6. As in S-I-X. Most will slip through the cracks with their future unknown.
If America thinks it has a problem with terrorism today. Wait till these kids grow up.
Welcome to America. |
