How the Indians Can Do Right By The Indians..... I am born and raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Regular readers of this blog will also know I'm also a baseball fan. That means I'm a fan of the Cleveland Indians and their controversial semi-retired trademark of Cheif Wahoo. The semi-retired Chief Wahoo April baseball in Cleveland means three things. Bad weather, small crowds (except for the opener), and a group of about four Native Americans with a sign outside the stadium that says "Down With The Chief". We live in an extremely political correct age. We try not to offend any group. (Unless you're running for President). Is it time the Indians permanently abandoned the Chief? How about the name Indians completely? A baseball team named the Cleveland Indians have been around for over 100 years now. That means people have been born, lived, and died as fans of the team. I have never been offended by the name or the mascot. The name Cleveland Indians to me

The Movies That Made Me Laugh the Most..... I think comedies are the hardest type of movies to make. If you make a drama, it's all about the story. Either it's good or its not. Action films these days are all about special effects. But comedies are very personal. It depends on your taste in comedy. There are some very popular, and rich people, that have starred in comedies that leave me flat.  Jim Carey and Will Ferrell to name a couple. (Although I loved Talladega Nights). Sometimes it's just the way a character is written that makes me laugh. Sometimes it's the situation. Sometimes it's from an actor that's not known for comedy. All I can say is that these movies made me laugh. A lot. The following list is just how I feel today. Tomorrow it might be totally different. I'll try to leave some links at the end because some of these are VERY obscure. Emergency! Everybody to git from street! 5. The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming! Talk

My Favorite Sports Movies - Explained..... So I'm laying in bed this morning, half awake and very cozy under the blankets. But then I ask myself what I should write about today.  So that does it. I'm out of bed. I decide not to write about anything deep. (Not that anyone has ever accused this blog of being too deep.) Near the top of this page is a list of my favorite sports movies. You may not have even noticed it. It's in pretty small print. But it occurred to me that I've never explained or talked about them. Some of them are classics, some are obscure. These movies for the most part have a common theme. They are about believing in your dreams. Overcoming the odds. Not listening to all the people that say you can't do something. So let's take a closer look at them. I'll try to put some links to them at the end of this blog. 5. Sugar : If there's a movie on this list you've never heard of - this is it. This movie came out in 2008 and

Why Baseball Is So Important..... This week marks the beginning of the new Baseball season. But symbolically it means more than that. It marks the start of better and warmer weather. Flowers, grass growing, and trees in bloom. January 1st may officially start the year, but Baseball marks the true beginning. Baseball is now a fading sport. That disturbs me a great deal. I have so many wonderful memories and experiences from my youth that revolve around playing, watching, or talking about Baseball. Summertime when I was young was a lot like the move, The Sandlot . Opening Day 1975 - Sure I was there. Sunny, but cold. Opening Day for my local team, the Indians, was like a national holiday to us. At that time, the Indians usually stunk. But on opening day we hadn't lost a game yet. I would always find a way to go, even if there was school. I went to a Catholic elementary school. We would ask the nuns, "Sister, if our parents say it's OK to go to the game, is it OK to
