Steph Curry - You're Invited To My House.....

To be honest, I've never been  a fan of Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors. I always thought he was a rather snarky fellow. Whining all the time. Always chewing that mouthguard. Nevertheless, He
Steph Curry - uninvited.
and his teammates are the NBA Champions. That usually means a trip to the White House and a visit with the President. Not this year.

Apparently this all started with the protest by some NFL players not to stand for the National Anthem. President Trump said these players should be fired. To be clear, I personally believe this type of protest is wrong. People have the right to protest almost any way they want. But on your own time. However, when you are representing your employer, and wearing that uniform, I think you should act as your employer recommends.

President Trump tweeted out a blast at those players and called them out by name. It must have been a slow day in the Korean crisis. Meanwhile, at his teams media day, Curry said he was unsure about accepting an invitation to the White House because he objected to the President's policies and rhetoric. This, of course, meant a response from the President.

Lebron is not a Trump fan either.
Trump tweeted, "Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore the invitation is withdrawn!"  Sounds a little like a 12 year old to me.

Curry responded with disbelief. Saying he didn't know why the President targets certain individuals. He said it was beneath the leader of a country to go that route. Lebron James then added that going to the White House was a great honor, until Trump got there. He even called him a bum. So another great sports tradition seems to have gone down the drain.

The tradition of sports team visiting the White House dates back to 1865 when President Andrew Johnson visited with two amatuer baseball teams. President Ulysses Grant visited with the Cincinnati
Boston Celtics with JFK in 1963.
Reds in 1869.  Calvin Coolidge invited the World Series Champion Washington Senators in 1924. President Kennedy visited with the NBA Champion Boston Celtics in 1963. But he was probably a Celtics fan.

I hate when traditions go away. So Steph, -  you can visit my house. You can bring your annoying wife and kid too. We'll let bygones be bygones. We'll have burgers and beer out on my deck.  I'll invite my friends and relatives and everyone will have a good time. We'll take plenty of selfies. I'll show you my Cavaliers memorabilia, that includes a picture of former Cav Kyrie Irving making "The Shot", with you trying to defend it. It'll be great.

If I can make peace with Steph Curry, why cant't the President have a meaningful dialogue with people he represents. Instead of tweeting something stupid.

Build bridges not walls.
